Back to school already? Need a sweet treat for your kids?

It is so hard to believe that the kids in my neighborhood will be back in school this week.  With the lousy spring we had around here, it seems like summer has just begun.  I saw many bloggers posting that their kids started school last week. OMG! What happened to going back to school around Labor Day, which is what we did in the olden days?  Although I was always pretty excited about going back to school (I'm a big dork - I know) I would have been devastated if I had to miss two or three weeks of swimming in the outdoor pool with my friends.

So, for those of you who have kids who aren't the least bit excited about heading back to school, why not make their transition a bit easier by giving them a sweet treat. I just thought you might want to consider a few of the recipes that I posted at the end of the school year. Although they were created to be Teacher's Gifts they can certainly make a wonderful surprise for a student too.

I have two more birthday recipes to share with your this week along with an announcement about a great giveaway, so stay tuned!

  1. I think your treats here are so sweet! My kids are older, one a high school senior and the other 3 college kids but they would get a huge kick out of these! There is much effort and love in these special treats. Have a terrific week. Anne

  2. These are adorable. I'm sad that we can't get the A&W Rootbeer dessert topper where we live. I'm in a relatively remote, small town where the choices are limited. I love the rice crispy treat books though and will give them a try :)
I'm so glad I found your blog - you have the greatest ideas and I love the step by step tutorials!

  3. Jo and Sue - I wondered how easy it would be to find the A&W Rootbeer Dessert Topper around the country. You can order it from Amazon.com. I've used it to make two recipes here at Hungry Happenings and highly recommend buying some. I personally don't like it as an ice cream topper, although my nephew loved it, but think it makes an amazing flavor booster for desserts.

  6. Hi Kimberly, Thanks for adding links on Capital Confectioners blog! I don't use Twitter. I know I'm a bit behind the times, but I have enough to keep up with already.

  7. Awesome! I don't think I could eat such goodness. You've just inspired me to make something similar, with a twist: a back to diagnostic medical sonography schools version. Keep it up!
