Every day for the past few weeks, I've walked by a baking sheet lined with my modeling chocolate designs and couldn't help but smile. Each decoration has it's own charm and I really do love them all. When I look at the picture above I see so many possibilities. I'm not sure of the exact mathematical calculation but if you have twelve different designs that can be attached to twelve different sweets, that's a lot of combinations.
I would never have imagined, before I began this project, that so many Christmas designs could be made by starting with a simple egg shape. Every Christmas decoration I looked at over the past month was scrutinized, trying to see if it was a candidate for this project. I did have a few failed attempts, some of which were totally revamped and did actually make it into the series, while others had to be scrapped.
Here are two that didn't make the cut. Although I thought my attempt at making an angel worked, my husband didn't. He just didn't get that the girl pictured above was an angel. He thought she looked like she was wearing a headband, not a halo, so she was replace by Mrs. Claus. At least the angel design came together quickly, so I didn't feel I wasted a lot of time. That cannot be said of the sled dog design. I spent four hours trying to get this one to work out, but I just didn't like anything I did. I tried so many techniques to get the dog's fur to look right, but in the end just didn't think he was cute enough for Christmas.
I need your help in deciding which decoration is the best of the series. I'm going to enter one of the designs in a contest and just can't decide which one makes the biggest impression. I want to know which design you like the best and one lucky reader will win some supplies to create his/her own modeling chocolate masterpieces. I hope I have inspired you to try your hand at making and working with modeling chocolate. If you'd like your chance at winning, see the information below.
