For the past few months' I've been creating decorated snack cakes and decided to share the fun with some kids by hosting a snack cake decorating party. With the help of Wilton, I put together a slew of decorating supplies, cookies, candies, and snack cakes for the young decorators to work with. I hosted children from age 4 to 15 and they all had a blast.
Here are some of their whimsical creations.
Aren't their snack cake creations clever and fun?
I love each and every one of them and so did the kids.
A snack cake party is so easy to set up, you don't have to put together a fancy display, just fill a work space with supplies and let the kids get busy.

Wilton supplied frosting, fondant, candy eyes, royal icing ghosts, icing colors, black sugar pearls, sprinkles, and green apple flavored licorice laces, as well as, cherry flavored black licorice laces. I love the flavor of black licorice, but have always felt it's flavor doesn't go with anything else, so using it for decorating was not a great plan, but some genius at Wilton made their black licorice cherry flavored, and it is perfect for making edible crafts for any occasion.
The teens enjoyed this project more than I ever imagined. They asked if they could make more than one cake and were pleasantly surprised when I told them to do as many as they'd like. They were totally astonished at how much I had on hand to use for decorating.

I know many of you would love to have the stock of decorating supplies I have in my kitchen. Well, guess what? Wilton has graciously agreed to share the love and send one of my readers a wonderful box filled with their products. The giveaway details are forthcoming. But first lets take a look at the young food artists at work.
All of the kids really enjoyed decorating, but I think some had even more fun eating ...
This party was so much fun that we've decided to add a snack cake decorating station at our Halloween party. Wouldn't your kids and their friends just love doing this too?
Whether you want to host a snack cake decorating party or want to just have fun in the kitchen this Halloween, be sure to enter to win a great package of Wilton products, below.

What a fun party! My son did this last year at a friend's monster b-day party. The kids had a blast.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blast! Wouldn't it be neat to take pix every ten years of a party like this: what I see from these kids looks very different from what I imagine my friends would have made at the same age!
